Competitions Update

Marc Walters was the star of Saturday’s 12th May medal and PGA qualifier with a brilliant gross 65 (nett 63). His round contained 8 birdies. In addition to winning the Scratch prize, he was victorious in the 1st Division by 5 strokes from Jim Daykin. Marc’s handicap reduced from 2 to 1 and won him entry into the Lombard qualifier, in which he will be joined by our professional Martyn Brown.

Matthew Walsh won Division 2 by a stroke with net 66 off 11, while new member Lee Cooper was successful in Division 3 with a net 69.

We have now started the list of members that no show for competitions with all members receiving 1 chance before the £3 charge will be requested before the member can play in any further competitions. Saturday saw just 1 member not play in the competition. How ever there were quite a few players not returning scores or cards. This is against conditions and entry and creates time and effort for the committee. It may only be your card to you but this card holds valuable information for CSS and in one case this weekend the card was required to cross reference a winning card from the markers column.

Next competition for booking Monday 21st May which is Stableford Trophies. This competition is a Stableford competition with 3 Divisions with winners of each division winning a place on the honour’s boards. Players must have played 3 Qualifying competitions at Wollaton Park in the last 3 years.

The Gentlemen’s Club Championship will take place on Sunday 10th June with John Taylor as the defending champion. The competition will be 36 holes strokeplay, with a sudden death playoff in the event of a tie. All male golfers with a competition handicap up to 12 are eligible to enter.
The entry sheet has now been posted in the Mixed Lounge on the competitions board NO ENTRY after closing date of Sunday 3rd June.
