Club Captain: Ron Turner

Ron Turner on Saturday 27th October 2007, the day he was elected Captain and at his "Drive In"

From 1958 to 1996 I served in the Nottinghamshire Constabulary, retiring in the rank of Superintendent. I married Val in 1967, some 40 years ago now, and we have two grown-up children.  We also have two wonderful grandsons.

I joined Wollaton Park Golf Club in 1988 and I have served on the committee since October 2002, being Chairman of Greens, Match and Handicap before becoming Vice Captain last year.

I am truly delighted to have been nominated as Captain. The golf course is set in beautiful park surroundings and is the County course for Nottinghamshire in 2008.  We look forward to this honour and can assure all visitors, societies and the County officials of a very warm welcome to the Club.

Ladies Captain: Jeanna Parton

As a small girl I looked enviously at Wollaton Park golfers playing on the other side of the railings and always wanted to be one of them. A long while later after assorted injuries had ended my badminton and running careers I decided that the time had come to play golf and finally became a member . I joined the Club in 1995 and have been very happy in the years since .

I play in most Ladies competitions and appropriate team events and have even managed to win the odd one . I eventually persuaded my husband of 25 years into resuming playing after a 30 year fly fishing layoff and we have a great deal of fun playing in Mixed and Married Couples Events .

I greatly appreciate the honour of assisting the Club in committee work and event organising and I am very proud indeed to be the Ladies' Captain .
