Membership Application

Applicants should complete the Preliminary Application for Membership Form (see link below) and return it to the Club Secretary, together with a passport sized photograph.

Ideally, applicants should be proposed and seconded by two WPGC members of at least three years standing, who have known the applicant for at least two years.  The proposer and seconder should submit letters of support to the Club Secretary.

When the letters of support have been received, the applicant will be placed on the waiting list, awaiting interview by the Membership Committee. 

Following interview, successful applicants will have their names posted on the notice board in the Clubhouse for 21 days.  During this period the applicant must receive the supporting signatures of 6 playing members of the Club (other than juniors) in addition to those of the proposer and seconder. Membership will then be offered as vacancies arise.  

For full playing male members, the initial category of membership offered is likely to be “Waiting Membership”.  This category comprises access to the course and facilities at all times, except that Waiting Members cannot:

            a)            Play in Saturday competitions

            b)            Play before 12 noon on Saturdays when there is no competition

            c)            Play before 10.00 a.m. on Sundays

            d)            Vote at the Annual General Meeting

On acceptance of Waiting Membership, the waiting member will pay 50% of the current Entrance Fee and 75% of the current Subscription plus EGU levy. (see note below)

When a waiting member is offered full playing membership, this must be taken up.  Should it not be, then the waiting member will be removed from the waiting list and from this category of membership.

On entering full playing membership, the balance of the Entrance Fee is payable (excluding promotional offers), together with the pro rata upgrade to the current Subscription for full playing membership. (see note below)

Please note: during the current promotional offer of £450 joining fee, the amount of £450 is payable in full on becoming a waiting member with no further entrance fee due on becoming a full playing member.
