New Booking System for Comps

We have looked at different options with a view to changing the booking process and we believe that the new guidelines set out below are the fairest to all members. For some members this will be a big change, but we feel the time is right to adopt this new process for the coming season.

Booking Saturday Competitions:

The clubhouse terminal booking will still be in operation but initially only alternate tee times will be available to book on this terminal. This will allow the substantial number of members who cannot attend the clubhouse the opportunity to reserve a wider choice of morning or afternoon tee times on-line.

Clubhouse Booking for Saturday Competitions:

As before, Clubhouse booking will open at 4.00 pm (late October to late March) and 6.00 pm (late March to late October) 12 days prior to the competition. However, instead of numbered tickets being handed out 90 minutes in advance, members will be required to put their own name into a draw, which will close 15 minutes before booking opens, and names will be drawn out to determine the order for booking in.
Alternate tee times will be available on the clubhouse terminal until 9.00 am the following morning, when all remaining tee times will then be available for booking.

Online Booking for Saturday Competitions:

Booking will open on-line 1 hour after the clubhouse booking and this can be accessed via or the android and apple application on mobile phones which is very simple to use. If you have not previously registered with howdidido, then you will need to register before you can access on-line booking.

Thursday Competitions:

Booking will open on both the clubhouse terminal and on-line at 9.00 am on Mondays 10 days prior to the competition. There will be one medal competition each month and we have added three 4 ball competitions during the season to give midweek players more variety in the competitions they can enter.

Winter Competitions 2017/18:

For the months of November, December, January and February there will be one competition each month which will be played over the weekend, with a competition on the Saturday and a further competition on the Sunday. Members will only be able to book either Saturday or Sunday for the first week, and then any remaining slots will be available for booking. This will enable twice as many members to play over the weekend; these will be for 4 players, again increasing the field. In December there will also be the traditional Gents Christmas Dinner Texas Scramble on the Saturday only.

The first competition to which the new system will apply is the Texas Scramble on Saturday 4 March for which booking will open on Monday 20 February. I would urge all members to please trial the new system and feed back to us any issues they encounter. As with all change, it will not suit everyone but this system will allow more members equitable access to tee times.
